Rabbi Mordechai Aharonoff
Rabbi Mordechai Aharonoff, our Yesod (pre-1) Rebbi, joined our Yeshiva during 2015. Born in Los Angeles, Rabbi Aharonoff moved to Eretz Yisrael at the age of ten where he learned for the next nine years in Bnei Brak, in Yeshivot Ohr Gaon and Otzrot Hatorah. He built a strong kesher with two mechanchim who continue to impact his life, Rav David Cohen shlit”a, the mashgiach of Ohr Gaon, and Rav Fadida, shlit”a, the Rosh Yeshiva of Otzrot Hatorah. Rabbi Aharonoff also learned in Chofetz Chaim in Queens, and attended Torah U’mesorah programs, prior to joining Ohr Eliyahu. Rabbi Aharonoff received semicha from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg. He taught for twelve years at Yeshivat Emek in the Valley. In addition to his own learning schedule, Rabbi Aharonoff is Rav of Kehilat Ohr Letzion, and gives shiur twice a week on hilchot Shabbat and shalom bayit. Rabbi and Mrs. Aharonoff live in North Hollywood with their family.
Rabbi Yitzchak Gabaie
Rabbi Yitzchak Gabaie was born in Iran and moved to Eretz Yisrael as a teen. He finished High School in Eretz Yisrael , and then came to the United States for Yeshiva. He attended YULA and Ner Yisrael Rabbinical College. While in Yeshiva in the United States he began teaching boys who had just arrived from Iran. He then went back to Eretz Yisrael and learned in Yeshiva Meshech Chachmah. While in Eretz Yisrael he also studied to become a sofer and was certified by Vaa’d Mishmeret Sta”m. Rabbi Gabaie taught for three years in Cheder Gur Arye following which he joined YAYOE and is currently teaching for the twenty third year. He was honored by the school as “Teacher of the Year” in 2002.
Rabbi Gabaie lives in Los Angeles with wife and their four children. Rabbi Gabaie has been described as “a Rebbe that is surpassed by none.” Rabbi Gabaie relates amazingly well to his students and is able to simultaneously maintain four to six learning groups at a time. He imparts an enthusiasm and a love for learning to all his students. We have been extremely fortunate that Rabbi Gabaie has chosen YAYOE as his Yeshivah.
Rabbi Yisroel Pollock
Rabbi Yisroel Pollock always knew he wanted to be a Rebbi. He had worked as a counselor and learning rebbi in camp since he was a teenager and thoroughly loved the interaction between Rebbe and Talmid. Rabbi Pollock has always enjoyed working with computers. In his 2nd grade classroom in Yeshivas Aharon Yaakov Ohr Eliyahu, he has combined these loves by enhancing his Limudei Kodesh classes with the very latest in computer technology. Rabbi Pollock spent his formative years studying in Yeshivas Beth Moshe of Scranton and Beth Medrash Govoha of Lakewood. For Kollel, he attended Yeshivas Ner Yisroel where he received his BTL in 2006. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Shifi and their seven children, many of whom are attending YAYOE.
Rabbi Tuvia Schwarzmer
Rabbi Dovid Nowosiolski
Rabbi Dovid Nowosiolski has semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in special education from Adelphi University. He has also received training from the Orton Gillingham school of Education and has continued his education through a variety of seminars on teaching techniques and classroom management styles. In 2005, Rabbi N. as he is affectionately known, was also honored by YAYOE as “Teacher of the year.” He is currently beginning his twentieth year here at YAYOE and has been part of our YAYOE family working with every grade in our school at varying points during his tenure here.
Rabbi Youkhehpaz was born in Iran and immigrated to the United States in January 1994 at the age of fourteen. He graduated from Valley Torah High school and continued with his studies at the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva in Israel and New York for the following eight years. Rabbi Youkhehpaz’s love and passion for teaching Torah led him to join the Ner Aryeh high school faculty in Valley Village, CA. The North Hollywood community has benefited immensely from his inspirational lectures and stimulating Torah classes. In September 2009 he joined the Yeshivas Aaron Yaakov Ohr Eliyahu staff as the 5th grade Rebbi where he has been introducing his students to Limud Hagemara and infusing them with the love and passion for learning. In December 2015 he was honored by Valley Torah High School for his contributions to the Los Angeles Jewish community. Rabbi Youkhehpaz lives in Valley Village with his wife Rachelle and their five children.
Rabbi Yosef Plittman
Rabbi Yosef Bondi
Rabbi Yosef Bondi our 7th grade Rebbi joined our Yeshiva 4 years ago. He originates from Queens, New York. He received Semicha – Yoreh Yoreh/Yadin Yadin from Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim in Queens NY, where he learnt for 14 years. While learning in Yeshiva, he was the personal secretary of the Rosh Hayeshiva, Rabbi Akiva Grunblatt. Rabbi Bondi also holds a Master’s degree from Trident University in Educational Leadership. Prior to joining YAYOE, Rabbi Bondi taught 7th grade chumash for two years in New York at Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe under the tutelage of Rabbi Chaim Feuerman Ed.
Rabbi and Mrs Bondi (our 8th grade mechaneches) live in the Hancock Park area with their 4 children, where Rabbi Bondi gives a weekly Gemara B‘iyun shiur at the Young Israel of Hancock Park.
Rabbi Yaakov Jacknis
Rabbi Yaakov Jacknis our 8th grade Rebbi joined our Yeshiva 10 years ago. He originates from Monsey, New York. He went to Yeshiva Sha’ar Hatorah in Queens NY for high school and Bais Medrash. He then went on to learn in Yeshiva Mir Yerushalayim as a talmid muvhak of Rav Yosef Elefant shlit”a.
Rabbi Jacknis is a graduate of the Ner Lelef chinuch training program. Rabbi Jacknis also serves as English Principal in the afternoons at Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles High School. He is head counselor of Camp Heller in New York during the summer. Rabbi and Mrs Jacknis live in the Hancock Park area with their 6 children who are talmidim and talmidos of YAYOE.
Shmuel Stoch grew up in South Africa and went to Eretz Yisrael to learn in Yeshiva. After 5 years he came to America to pursue a career as a Special Education teacher with an emphasis on cognitive development and reading proficiency.
While in Eretz Yisrael Rabbi Stoch attended Yeshivas Har Etzion, a Hesder Yeshiva, which is located in Gush Etzion. He completed a teacher training program there and worked at Kiryat Noar, a boys’ school in Bayit Vegan.
Rabbi Stoch came to California in 1989 and started working at Yeshivas Yavneh in Los Angeles. Working in the resource room sparked an interest in Special Education and Rabbi Stoch completed a Master’s Degree in Special Education at the Californian Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA. He continued his education by specializing in reading and completing a Lindamood-Bell training; a program designed to help those with dyslexia master the skills of reading and writing.
He worked as an Educational Therapist at The Kelter Center for 8 years eventually becoming the assistant director of the center. Rabbi Stoch then returned to Yavneh to become the in-house educational therapist. In this role he was responsible for monitoring the students who had learning differences and who needed additional support to find success.
Rabbi Stoch moved to Yeshivas Aaron Yaakov Ohr Eliyahu in 2008 to become the Yesod (Pre-1) Rebbi. He remained in that position for 8 years and now for the past year has become the Hebrew Reading resource teacher. In this capacity, Rabbi Stoch is providing a school wide reading program designed to improve the reading skills of all the students. In addition, Rabbi Stoch is helping small groups of students who need extra intervention boost their basic reading and Torah study skills.
Rabbi Stoch also runs a successful Educational Therapy private practice. He trains teachers in the Lindamood-Bell approach for dealing with processing issues as well as helping develop cognitive skills in students using the Feuerstein Mediated Learning system.
He lives with his wife Marilyn, and their four children in Valley Village, California.
Rabbi Baruch Zheutlin, our Mashgiach, joined the staff ten years ago. He is a Los Angeles native who went to Yavneh and Yeshiva Gedolah and always dreamed of coming back and teaching in the community. He received his Semicha from Ner Yisroel of Baltimore and a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University. He presently also serves as co-director of the LA Torah Umesorah Teacher Center. His love of children and Torah make him a perfect match for our Yeshiva. Rabbi Zheutlin and his wife Devora are parents of six children.
